The new ICON Airframe Carbon RR pushes the technological and visual boundaries of ICON's carbon-fiber helmet line by integrating a patented molding process with new design elements.
The Carbon RR's shell is formed using a unique dry-molding technology that allows for the exact placement of carbon material to reinforce the structure without adding weight. As a result, the Carbon RR tips the scales at just 1450 grams, making it one of ICON's lightest helmets.
The shell's dimensions were tested and refined in the wind tunnel, and a rear spoiler reduces helmet buffeting. For ventilation, there are multiple oversized intake and exhaust vents, and a removable molded breath deflector teams with a quick-change fog-free Proshield to help maintain clear vision. The removable interior is made of washable HydraDry. A dark smoke shield and a removable chin curtain are included with the Carbon RR.
The graphics set the Carbon RR apart from the crowd. They start with strong geometric shapes with ghosted design elements overlaying the carbon-fiber shell, and are rounded out with the "RR" logo and precision pinstriping.
The ICON Airframe Carbon RR helmet fits medium-oval heads best, according to the company, and comes in blue, red, or pink. (Yes, pink.) It's DOT- and ECE-approved, and comes in sizes XS-3XL for a suggested retail price of $515.
