Although it's based on the R1200GS, for the HP2 BMW's engineers left virtually nothing untouched to create the best and most powerful (105 bhp claimed) off-road boxer ever. The seriousness of BMW's intent can be seen in how the firm discarded trademark technology such as the Telelever front end and replaced it with a conventional upside-down telescopic fork to make the HP2 more capable off-road.
