FIRST LOOK: 2016 Scrambler Sixty2 and Flat Track Pro from Ducati

Ducati's Scrambler has been a massive success, in the US and abroad, so it's no surprise that Bologna is expanding the range for 2016. Welcome the 399cc Scrambler Sixty2 and Flat Track Pro to the lineup.

Fitted with what should be wicked-sounding Termignoni exhaust and resplendent in yellow paint, the Flat Track Pro is a styling exercise to commemorate the American flat track scene. Side number plates, a teeny-tiny headlight fairing (more like a cowlick), and a flatter fat handlebar mark the major differences from your standard-issue Scrambler, but the look is undeniably cool.

"With the Sixty2, the highly expressive Ducati Scrambler design takes on a fresh look thanks to a slim steel tank with dedicated graphics and logos. This makes the Sixty2 immediately recognizable, as do its three exclusive colors: Atomic Tangerine, Ocean Grey and Shining Black," so says Ducati.

Ducati says the new Sixty2 will be “even more affordable,” but we’ve not been issued prices yet. Part of that will come from the Sixty2’s 399cc displacement from the air-cooled, two-valve engine, the change accomplished through bore and stroke. The 399cc engine is 72mm by 49mm, while the first 803cc Scramblers were 88mm by 66mm. It remains to be seen how the smaller Scrambler does in the US against the popular 803cc version, though markets that have license restrictions and/or high taxes at 400cc and above will certainly welcome the smaller Scrambler.
