There's excitement in the air at the Motorcyclist offices. That's because we've just taken delivery of a BMW S1000R—the "naked" version our two-time "Class of" comparison winner and two-time Sportbike of the Year, the S1000RR.
Powered by a tuned-for-torque version of the RR’s engine and offering the same comprehensive electronics but with less bodywork, a wide handlebar, and more relaxed ergonomics, this kickass machine should excel on the street.
Will this street-oriented iteration of BMW's superbike thrill us the way the sportbike does? Over the next few days we'll ride the S1000R through the local canyons, at the track, and at the dragstrip, as well as run it on the dyno. Check back here later for a full report, but in the meantime you can stay up to speed with this outrageous roadster via our Facebook page and Instagram feed.
