On our dyno, the NC700 reveals fairly prodigious torque (orange line) low in the rev range. On the road, though, you also notice how it signs off abruptly at the 6500-rpm redline. The CB500X also has a commendably flat torque curve, and has a much revvier personality—power tapers near the redline so that you seldom smack the limiter. The NC wins the award for best throttle response.
