2007 Triumph Daytona Review

Intro

In 2006, it was time for United Kingdom-based Triumph Motorcycles to make a change: Out went the Daytona 650, in came the Daytona 675. A middleweight sport bike, the 675 was designed to be strikingly beautiful while remarkably efficient. While the model year that followed, 2007, arrived with no changes, there was no need to. Triumph set the manufacturer's suggested retail price of the 2007 Daytona at $8,999.

The digits ""675"" represent the engine displacement (in cubic centimeters) of the 2007 Triumph Daytona engine, which is quite a powerful unit. Designed as a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, horizontal, three-cylinder, the engine generates 123 horsepower at 12,500 revolutions per minute (RPM) and 53 pound-feet of torque at 11,750 RPM. The bore and stroke of the engine is measured at 2.92 by 2.06 inches, while its compression ratio is set at 12.7 to 1. Four intake valves go on each of the three cylinders in a double overhead camshaft configuration. Each 2007 Daytona engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

Available in Graphite, Scorched Yellow, and Tornado Red, the 2007 Triumph Daytona 675 uses a weight-reducing yet tough aluminum frame. Front and rear fenders, lower and upper fairing, and side cover dress up the bike. At the front of the bike is a digital dashboard that includes a tachometer, trip odometer, trip computer, lap timer, speedometer, fuel level warning indicator, and adjustable shift light. A two-piece vinyl seat provides enough space for the driver plus a passenger, and there is under-seat and lockable storage included on each bike. For superior braking, a 308-millimeter dual disc is placed in the front and a 220-millimeter single disc is placed at the back. The bike rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels fitted with tubeless Pirelli® tires. Also included are a windshield, a pair of rearview mirrors, and a halogen headlight.

The 2007 Triumph Daytona has a length of 79.1 inches, width of 28 inches, and height of 43.7 inches, with a wheelbase of 54.8 inches. The motorcycle weighs 363 lbs. (in dry weight), and peak fuel capacity is set at 4.6 gallons.

While they generally excel in performance and features, motorcycles from Triumph have not exactly been the best-looking machines. However, the 2007 Triumph Daytona 675 challenges that notion with modernized exterior styling that stands out against the competition.
