2007 Tomberlin TX Review

Intro

The 2007 Tomberlin TX is a mid-range scooter from United States-based company Tomberlin, released during the 2007 model year. Manufactured in South Korea, the TX is a departure from most Tomberlin bikes, which are usually designed for off-road activity. The ‘07 Tomberlin TX marks the nameplate’s second model year.

With a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,059, the 2007 Tomberlin TX is officially called the Tomberlin TX 50. The two-digit suffix is for the scooter’s engine displacement, which is measured at 49.5 cubic centimeters (rounded up to 50). The engine itself is a four-stroke single-cylinder engine, with two valves on the cylinder. Power is rated at 2.8 horsepower at 8,000 revolutions per minute (RPM) and 2.1 pound-feet of torque at 5,500 RPM. The compression ratio is 10.5 to 1 and bore and stroke for the engine are 1.54 by 1.63 inches, respectively.

Paired with the engine on the 2007 Tomberlin TX is a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). With its ability to choose from an unlimited number of gears, the engine is able to run more efficiently and offer better fuel economy. Each ‘07 Tomberlin TX has a peak fuel capacity of 1.7 gallons, with the manufacturer suggesting mid-grade fuel for best scooter performance.

Available only in red finish, the 2007 Tomberlin TX uses the customary plastic-on-steel-frame design. Its one-piece vinyl seat is enough to accommodate the driver and one passenger. The braking of the 2007 TX consists of a front hydraulic 160-millimeter disc and rear drum. The wheels are ten-inch steel, with tubed tires.

Each 2007 Tomberlin TX measures around 67 inches in length, 25 inches in width, and 43 inches in height. The seat is set at around 29 inches, the wheelbase is estimated at 47 inches and there is a ground clearance of around 4 inches. The dry weight of the 2007 Tomberlin TX is rated at 183 lbs., and wet weight is 192 lbs. The bike can handle up to 330 lbs.
