2012 SYM Classic Review

It came as no surprise to anyone that the popularity of scooters and motorcycles raised in accordance with the higher prices at the fuel pumps in the last few years. While motorcycles are certainly more fuel efficient than cars, trucks, and most especially SUVs, scooters are the decided winners in that particular category. That said not everyone desires or is comfortable on a scooter and let’s face it there is a cool factor to riding a motorcycle a scooter just can’t provide. One of the most popular scooter makers on the market, SYM seemed to think so too and for the 2012 model year chose to release the Classic 150. This small motorcycle comes after years of providing Honda with such well made scooters as the Mio series in addition to several others. The Taiwanese company has a reputation for solidly built bikes with ever improving engineering and high tech construction. It only makes sense these bikes come in high on the list for dealers as well as with the general population. In the Classic 150, motorcycle enthusiasts see a refreshing change back to the small bike’s popularity and appeal.

Retro is the first word that comes to mind when taking that first initial look at the 2012 SYM Classic 150. This little motorcycle is outfitted with a small gas tank and classic seat. The seat height is pretty standard for bikes in the class and sits just shy of 30 inches from the ground. Riders of most heights should be able to work with this design. Buyers with an eye for the past or at least shiny objects are likely to really appreciate the amount of chrome on this model. SYM used the metallic stuff to highlight the engine and fenders. The bling factor keeps coming in the paint job as well. It is highly glossy and looks fantastic. Overall, the body design of the Classic 150 gives the impression of youth and fun with its attractive appearance.

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the look of the 2012 SYM Classic 150, but of course, how it rides is important as well. This model gets up to 85 mpg, making it an excellent choice for anyone concerned about the cost of fuel. Additionally, the rider can expect a lot of spirited fun from this bike too. Equipped with a single cylinder engine, the Classic still has plenty of pep. The estimated top speed for this model is 65 mph, so maybe not the best choice for highway riding and why would you? The Classic is a comfortable ride more suited to riding around town or back roads enjoying the scenery and the sometimes amused or nostalgic looks from the motorists you encounter. Who knows? Maybe some big Harley riding guy will spend some time talking about his first bike and reminiscing about the good old days. If you aren’t looking for a monster motorcycle with tons of extras, the 2012 SYM Classic 150 could be the right bike for your adventures on the open road.
