2008 Hyosung Avitar Review

The only model released in 2008 for the Hyosung Avitar lineup was the GV 650. Those who prefer a Harley-Davidson-inspired cruiser but do not have the money to buy one may find the 2008 Hyosung Avitar GV 650 to be an excellent alternative motorcycle. The Avitar GV 650 has a 650-cc motor, but the performance of the motorcycle is much more impressive than one might initially believe. The engine of the Avitar produces 42 lb-ft of torque and an amazing 41 horsepower. The size of the Avitar is good for beginners, since it is comparatively light in weight.

Test riders report that the 2008 Hyosung Avitar has a very comfortable seat and driver position. Of course, the foot-pegs are located out in front of the rider, as is typical of cruiser-style bikes. However, the foot-pegs are adjustable, so riders of all shapes and sizes will find this bike to be a good fit. Additionally, this motorcycle has a significantly low seat height at a mere 31 inches, meaning that both short and tall riders will be able to manage the Avitar. This bike is very well balanced with a low center of gravity. Test drivers did note, however, that the passenger accommodations are not very comfortable. The passenger foot pegs are awkwardly positioned, and the rear suspension does not seem to have been designed for a passenger. Those who want a bike that comfortably rides double may not find the Avitar to be a good fit.

Many test drivers were surprised by the handling and suspension of the 2008 Hyosung Avitar GV 650. The bike was fairly agile and extremely stable when handling curves and corners, and the suspension gave the Avitar a comfortable ride on all types of roads. The steel frame is sturdy and rigid, and the Avitar gives a fairly vibration-free ride. The brakes are dependable, providing good stopping power at all speeds.

Some users have reported that the appearance of the Avitar can seem a bit generic in some regards. The warning labels on the tank have some obvious translation errors that make the bike seem more like a cheap knock-off than a genuine cruiser. Some of the plastic and chrome also appear to be of poor quality. However, if riders do not mind these small aesthetic faults, the Avitar is a distinctive, fair-quality motorcycle. Long-time owners are very happy with their Avitars, reporting years of low-maintenance cycling.
