2011 Honda Sabre Review

Intro

Somewhere between the naked bike and the stylized chopper sits the custom cruiser. This class of motorcycles has been hit-and-miss amongst buyers as it toes a fine line between overly aggressive and under-performing. Most bike makers seem to build theirs in color schemes that scream power or intimidation. Honda went the middle road with this middle cruiser sitting between the Stateline powerhorse and the Interstate luxury liner. Balancing the menacing look of the chromed out customs with the softer but dynamic appearance that electric blue can give, Honda created the Sabre.

With minimalist styling, a 33-degree rake and a long wheelbase, the 2011 Honda Sabre definitely says custom. For the rider, this results in a slightly hunched, but not uncomfortable position on the low-slung seat, reaching over the long tank to the stubby, raked bars. Controls and dashboard are laid out with this position in mind, however, making for an ergonomic feel and the far forward, adjustable foot pegs help give balance to the ride.

The 2011 Honda Sabre flows forward, with its huge 21-inch, five-spoke wheel and front tire leading the way. Sitting on the bike, the rider feels and hears the impressive engine curdling and roar whereas the tuned mufflers and pipe positioning spares onlookers from an onslaught of decibels. A comfortable, powerful, sporty and attention-getting ride sums up the excellent design of the Sabre.
