2012 Honda CRF Review

Intro

The 2012 Honda CRF represents the eleventh year of the off-road motorbike from Japanese automaker Honda. There are twelve models of the 2012 Honda CRF: CRF 50F, 70F, 80F, 100F, 150F, 150R, 150R Expert, 230F, 250X, 250R, 450R, and 450X. Since there are multiple variants of the 2012 Honda CRF, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price varies from $1,540 for the 50F to $8,440 for the 450 series.

The CRF 50F, 70F, 80F, and 100F models of the 2012 Honda CRF are designated as ""youth bikes."" They tend to be slightly smaller, less powerful, and possess less stopping power and driving range than the other models. The CRF 150 Series (150F, 150R and 150R Expert) and 230F comprise the mid-level trims. Honda provided the 250X and 250R (250 Series) and the 450R and 450X (450 Series) as the top-tier trims.

Each model of the 2012 Honda CRF has a two- or three-digit suffix that roughly corresponds with the displacement of its four-stroke single-cylinder engine, which is either air- or liquid-cooled. For instance, the CRF 50F has an engine displacement of 49 cubic centimeters (cc), which is rounded up to 50 cc. At the other end of the spectrum are the CRF 450R and 450X (450 Series), which have an engine displacement of 449 cc (rounded up to 450). Relying on a carburetor to fuel it, the engine is paired with a three-, five-, or six-speed manual transmission.

The 2012 Honda CRF has a dizzying number of variants; to the average casual rider, it might be rather intimidating. However, considering the aforementioned trait, the 2012 CRF is one of the most versatile nameplates in the off-road bike market--and consequently one of its best sellers/
