2012 Ducati Streetfighter Review

Intro

The 2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848 is another example of the high performance racing motorcycles that is known through Ducati heritage. The 2012 Streetfighter 848 exudes all of the features aerodynamic technology, light bodies, fast motors, precise braking power, and tight turning abilities that crush the competition.

Since Ducati has hit the racing scene it has remained top of the line. The 2012 Streetfighter is just that. A speedy 849 cc, four-stroke, dual overhead camshaft (DOHC), longitudinal twin-cylinder engine makes this motorcycle tear through the streets. It has been newly designed to reduce the engine overlap from 37 degrees to 11 degrees. This innovation This invention increases power, reduces the consumption of gas, and decreases emission output. The improvements made allow it to achieve full torque of 69 pounds per feet (lb-ft) of torque while maintaining a low 9500 revolutions per minute. This allows for higher and more consistent power. It is fuel injected with elliptical throttle bodies and is liquid cooled. The camshaft case cover and clutch cover have been made with magnesium alloy to reduce the weight to increase performance. The crankcase has been revamped and made by die cast under vacuum. It has decreased the weight and made it stronger by increasing the wall thickness. This manual, six-speed clutch has also been redesigned to decrease the weight. The use of a wet-clutch has made shifting smoother and decreased the weight by 2.2 pounds. The new camshafts have been improved also. They are 1.5 mm larger and have 4 degrees longer duration that has gone to make this ride even faster and smoother. With all of this power it needs even better stopping power. Dual hydraulic disc brakes with four 35 mm pistons provide braking power in the front and the rear brakes consist of a single hydraulic disc brake with two pistons.

The 2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848 has not only been improved in power and comfort but also with handling and control at those top speeds. A telescopic front fork with cross-mounted adjustable steering damper and adjustable pre-load have made handling more precise while perfecting stability. The rear suspension is consists of one single sided swing arm with adjustable rebound damping and adjustable spring pre-load. With a 24.5 degree rake, 4.05 inches of trail, and a wheelbase of 58.1 inches the control of the motorcycle is precise. The seat sits a comfortable 33 inches off the ground and the bike positions you in a perfect racer’s tuck. Making you one with the motorcycle and just as aerodynamic. Every inch of the 2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848 has been scrutinized to reduce weight and improve timing.
