2013 Husqvarna CR 125

Intro

The Husqvarna CR 125 is a competitive, affordable 144cc displacement motocross bike that has really made a splash on the dirt bike circuit since its emergence in 2008. The Husqvarna brand is well-known in the motocross world, and Husqvarna two-stroke bikes have taken down plenty of victories in Enduro and Motocross races all around the world. Rest assured that the 2013 Husqvarna CR 125 is designed and fully prepared to continue that tradition.

Husqvarna is an originally Swedish company which has been manufacturing high quality powersport vehicles for decades. Now part of the BMW Group and based in Northern Italy, Husqvarna has been spitting out off-road racing champion motorcycles for years upon years. Although there are certainly off road bikes with bigger engines out there than the Husqvarna CR 125, this bike is surprisingly powerful and can actually be intimidating on the track, even sporting a 124.8cc displacement, two-stroke engine.

The 2013 Husqvarna CR 125 offers a nice combination of style and aggressiveness, with high mounted fenders, a classic dirt bike body with narrow side panels and black trim, and an appealing combination of red, black and white overall. Of course, none of that matters if the bike can’t perform. Fortunately, this ""Husky"" definitely can do the job.

When you’re riding a dirt bike, one thing that is beyond doubt is that you want to have great control, and fortunately, that’s just what you get with the Husqvarna CR 125, thanks to its light weight and ample wheelbase. That control doesn’t come at a sacrifice of power, however, as you’ll get plenty out of this 124.8cc displacement engine. This combination of control and power is part of why the CR 125 is particularly well-suited for younger riders or riders who may be making their first move to a full-size off road bike. The refined engine allows the Husqvarna CR 125 to compete even with bigger, four-stroke engines, and the handling inherent in the design means almost anyone can handle the power it provides, especially with the help of strong Brembo disc brakes keeping that power under control.

When you’re ready to put the Husqvarna CR 125 through its paces, just slam on that kick starter and go. It pops right into action in first gear and you should have no problem getting into your jumps and curves right away. A new rider can easily develop some strong racing skills on this little bike and an experienced and creative rider can probably log some very impressive race times, even with a 125 engine powering this machine. The suspension, which features Marzocchi forks and resilient Sachs rear shock absorber, can let you take even the toughest bumps and turns without wiping out, and the six-speed gearbox means you can kick it up to that extra notch you need to pull ahead and win the race.

As an added benefit to all the positives of the 2013 Husqvarna CR 125, it’s also fairly affordable. While a bike of this quality does cost money, it is a bit cheaper than some of its rivals, so if price is a consideration, you should be aware that the CR 125 is quite a good value for off-road bikes in its class.

In sum, don’t be fooled by general impressions, whether based on its history or reputation, of the Husky CR 125 as a ""kid’s bike."" Although younger and newer riders will appreciate the comfort and easy handling, make no mistake; this is a bike to be reckoned with. Face one on the track, or better yet, take one out yourself, and you’ll see what we mean.
