2012 Yamaha FJR

The 2012 Yamaha FJR 1300A is a sport-touring bike that has been designed to give the rider as much comfort and amenities as possible while improving distance capabilities, performance, and reliability. The FJR 1300A is powered by a liquid-cooled, four-cylinder, 1298cc engine with a five speed transmission and a final shaft final drive. It also has a dual overhead camshaft valve train, is fueled by an electronic fuel injection system, and has a wide bore of 3.11 inches and a short stroke of 2.61 inches. This gives the bike a copious amount of torque in the 2000-9000 rpm range. It measures at 125 horsepower at about 8000 rpm and 88 lb-ft of torque at 7000 rpm. This overall system ensures that there is no confusion why the word sport is used in sport-touring.

The bike has decent handling due to its suspension design and big power output, which are both helpful since it is a bit heavy, weighing in at 644 pounds. The dual front discs are very powerful and have an antilock braking system that functions during all weather and road conditions.

The hard-locking, weather proof side bags are capable of holding a helmet in each, lock with the ignition key, and are removable by hand if need be. The rider’s seat can be adjusted to one of two positions and the handlebars can be set in one of three positions, giving six different combinations to maximize comfort. The electronic adjustable windshield can be height adjusted at the touch of a button to reduce wind resistance on the face or keep the body dry during a sudden down pour.

There are also lights for neutral and high beams, turn signals and engine warnings. Lastly, there are gauges for real-time mileage, average mileage, and air temperature.
• For rider and passenger comfort, the seat is an adjustable, ergonomically designed, seat that can be adjusted up or down by an inch and the handlebar pullback angle has a half-inch range at three positions.
• In addition, the windshield is pushbutton adjustable to increase wind protection. Combined with the ergonomic seats, this bike is a very comfortable ride for short and long distances.
• The grips come with a heating option standard on all bikes which you can adjust to warm your hands during colder temperatures.
• This bike also comes standard with the Unified Braking System w/ ABS. The front brake lever engages six of the eight front brake pistons while the rear brake lever engages the two rear pistons. The remaining front two pistons are reserved for anti-lock braking in all weather and road conditions.
