2012 Husqvarna WR 250

Intro

For the 2012 model year, BMW subsidiary Husqvarna Motorcycles released three models for its low-end, Enduro-inspired motorcycle, the WR. They were named the WR 125, the WR 250, and the WR 300, with manufacturer’s suggested retail prices of $5,999, $6,799, and $6,999, respectively.

Each model of the 2012 Husqvarna is named after the displacement of its engine, which is a two-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder unit. The displacement is 124.8 cubic centimeters (cc) on the WR 125, 249.3 cc on the WR 250, and 293.1 cc on the WR 300. The engine uses a reed valve train, relies on a 38-millimeter (mm) Mikuni carburetor for fueling it, and can be ignited by the bike's kick starter.

The engine of the 2012 Husqvarna WR is paired with a six-speed manual transmission on the WR 125, and five-speed manual on the WR 250 and WR 300. Each bike has a gas tank that can hold up to 2.5 gallons (9.5 liters).

Each 2012 Husqvarna WR uses Brembo® hydraulic disc brakes: a front 10.2-inch (260-mm) one and a rear 9.5-inch (240-mm) one. The layout on the WR gives it better stopping power than bikes with all-wheel drum or front-disc-brake rear-drum-brake layouts. For reducing bumps and ensuring a smoother ride, Husqvarna gives the 2012 WR bike a suspension composed of a front 1.9-inch (48-mm) Kabaya inverted fork and a rear-placed Sachs twin-sided aluminum swing arm with a shock absorber. The 2012 WE rides on front 21-inch and rear 18-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in tubed Michelin® tires.

The 2012 Husqvarna WR comes with a two-tone, red-and-white color scheme. It uses a frame made from the combination of chromium and molybdenum to make the bike solid yet light. Covering the bike are front and rear fenders, side covers, chain guard, exhaust guard, fork guards and a skid plate protecting its underside. The digital instrumentation of the 2012 WR consists of clock, tachometer, trip odometer, speedometer, service reminder indicator, and fuel level and temperature warning lights.

The three models of the 2012 Husqvarna WR share a length of 89 inches (2,261.6 mm) and width of 33.1 inches (840 mm). The wheelbase is measured at 57.7 inches (1,465 mm) on the WR 125 and 58.5 inches (1,485 mm) on the other models. Similarly, the dry weight is estimated at 222.7 lbs. (101 kilograms) for the WR 125 and 235.9 lbs. (107 kg) on the WR 250 and WR 300.

Available in three models of varying power, the 2012 Husqvarna WR is worth checking out for enthusiasts of cross country racing. It is reasonably equipped with standard features, in addition to its considerable engine power and sharp handling.
