2012 Ducati Monster

2012 Ducati Monster 696

Intro

With the launch of the 2012 model lineup, the Ducati Monster line arrives with an additional sub-model. 2012 sees an increase from three to four motorcycles with the introduction of the 2012 Ducati Monster Diesel joining the Ducati Monster 696, Ducati Monster 796, and Ducati Monster 1100 EVO. All are manufactured with an eye to detail, making the bikes user-friendly and safe with an iconic design. Over the long history of the Ducati Monster, the bike has enjoyed a cult status, which continues into 2012 with production of each of the naked motorcycles built by hand.

The frame used for the 2012 Ducati Monster bikes is composed of a light tubular steel Trellis frame coupled with an aluminum rear subframe, making the bikes rigid and strong while keeping weight down. The minimalist style of the 2012 Ducati Monster continues from the frame to the instrument cluster where a brightly illuminated display provides essential data. Further information can be found by scrolling using the left-hand switchgear.

The engine found on the 2012 Ducati Monster is the company’s own unique Desmodromic engine. Valve performance of the engine is possible through the mechanically activated valve closures to allow for a smooth ride at even the highest rpms, where other valve systems fail as they cannot keep up with the engine.

The 2012 Ducati Monster lineup features the entry-level 696, the mid-range 796, and the 1100 EVO, which is the flagship motorcycle for the Monster lineup. 2012 sees the addition of the Ducati Monster Diesel bike, which was inspired by the 1100 EVO, but has more of a military feel. The 2012 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO and Diesel are equipped with an engine that provides 100 horsepower, as well as the latest generation exhaust system, and a top of the line suspension.

The 2012 Ducati Monster 696, 796, and 1100EVO come in traditional Ducati red, while the 696 and 796 also come in a black and white color. The 1100 EVO has a refined tail end and includes sport-style graphics. The red 1100 EVO features a white stripe, while the black bike has a grey stripe. The Ducati Monster Diesel has military green bodywork with black accents. To provide a unique look for riders, each 2012 Ducati Monster can be further customized as part of the Monster Art program.
