2012 Ducati 848 EVO Corse SE

Intro

Ducati had two goals in mind for the 2012 Superbike 848 EVO, faster and more stopping power. It set out to achieve technology to surpass its competition. As usual, they did just that. The 2012 Ducati Superbike 848 EVO has shaved off weight and utilizes engine systems that have this motorcycle out running the competition.

Powering the 848 EVO is an 849 cc, Dual overhead camshaft (DOHC), L-twin engine. This engine has the horsepower of 140 at 10,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) and an increased torque of 72.3 pounds per foot (lb-ft) at 9,750 revolutions per minute (rpm) The higher torque at lower speeds is amazing however, just wait until you see what it can do at high speeds. The electrical fuel injection system has been upgraded with 60 mm elliptical throttle bodies causing an air glow increase of 30 percent and pushing more power to the engine. The piston crowns and the combustion chamber have a new shape improving its efficiency. The use of magnesium alloy in places such as the camshaft cover and outer clutch covers reduces the weight of the bike and thus reducing the power it takes to make this baby go. However, some places are getting more instead of less. There is an increase of 1.5 mm camshaft lift leaving longer inlet duration of 4 percent. This again increases performance and has this motorcycle running faster and smoother. Shifting is no exception to the rule. Ducati has installed a wet clutch in the 848 EVO. The wet clutch not only decrease weight by 2.2 pounds but is makes it quieter. The die-cast crankcase has also been designed to have thicker, stronger walls and increase the fuel efficiency of the motorcycle.

The rest of the 848 EVO is just as impressive. The frame has been built to be agile and lightweight. To comfort the ride is a fully adjustable front fork suspension and fully adjustable aluminum single sided swing arm shock absorber in the rear protects you from the roads roughness and gives the rider more control and stability. When so much effort is put into making one of the fastest machines just as much effort has to be put into making it stop. There are 34 mm pistons and dual 320 mm hydraulic discs to achieve stop on a dime brake power. The rear disc is 245 mm and has two pistons of stopping power. Once you are on this motorcycle all you really see is the easy to read gauges and just what you need at your fingertips. If you love the look and feel of the 2012 Ducati Superbike 848 EVO you just might enjoy the upgrades that come with the 2012 Superbike 848 EVO Corse SE also.
