2012 BMW S 1000 RR

Intro

The 2012 BMW S is a super bike that is designed for the race track and is one of those bikes that will truly take your breath away. This racing bike features the highest dynamics, the latest in cutting edge technology, and delivers an exhilarating ride packed with tremendous power and supreme handling. While the 2012 BMW S was designed with racing in mind it can also be ridden on the open road and all one needs to do is simply attach the license plate to this ultimate racing machine.

This bike was first introduced in 2009 and the current model features many revisions and changes that help to enhance the overall performance and handling. These tweaks to the engine, suspension, and entire bike have helped to make the 2012 BMW S1000RR an extremely powerful machine. For starters, this bike features one of the most advanced brake systems on the market today. The Dynamic Traction Control (DCT) combined with the BMW Motorrad Racing ABS delivers an optimized ride with precise and perfect interaction for all braking scenarios. The engine is a water-cooled, four-cylinder four-stroke that can provide a tremendous amount of power.

One of the biggest changes to the 2012 models concerns the reconfiguration of the throttle system. The changes have helped to improve the overall throttle response in all the different racing modes. The torque curves have also been redefined with the sole purpose of improving the overall ride-ability. To this end, the 2012 BMW RR now offers three distinct torque curves. These include one curve for the Rain and Sport modes and one for the Race and Slick modes. The inclusion of these four curves improves the torque and increases the overall performance of the bike.

The 2012 BMW S boosts a tremendous amount of power and is sure to turn heads wherever it goes. This true racing machine leaves many breathless.

New For 2012
  • Throttle reconfigured for enhanced response. Changes include gentle acceleration in rain mode and more of an immediate and direct response when in sport, race, or slick modes.
  • Suspension modified with all new values to increase overall handling of the bike. Steering head angle, the position of the swing arm pivot, and the spring strut length have all been modified.
  • LCD display of engine redesigned. The new display features better readability and also has five dimming levels to help ensure it can be read no matter what the lighting conditions may be.
  • New colors include alpine white, red, sapphire blue, and black.
  • Torque optimized to improve ride-ability and performance.
  • Increased air flow efficiency gained due to the enlarged cross sectional area for the intake.
  • Refined tuning between the race ABS and the Dynamic Traction Control to help improve overall performance of the bike.
  • Catalytic convertors relocated, which means that heat shields are no longer needed.
