These tweaks to the engine, suspension, and entire bike have helped to make the 2012 BMW S1000RR an extremely powerful machine. For starters, this bike features one of the most advanced brake systems on the market today. The Dynamic Traction Control (DCT) combined with the BMW Motorrad Racing ABS delivers an optimized ride with precise and perfect interaction for all braking scenarios. The engine is a water-cooled, four-cylinder four-stroke that can provide a tremendous amount of power.

One of the biggest changes to the 2012 models concerns the reconfiguration of the throttle system. The changes have helped to improve the overall throttle response in all the different racing modes. The torque curves have also been redefined with the sole purpose of improving the overall ride-ability. To this end, the 2012 BMW RR now offers three distinct torque curves. These include one curve for the Rain and Sport modes and one for the Race and Slick modes. The inclusion of these four curves improves the torque and increases the overall performance of the bike.

• Increased air flow efficiency gained due to the enlarged cross sectional area for the intake.

• Catalytic convertors relocated, which means that heat shields are no longer needed.
