2011 Yamaha V Star 950 Base

Since its introduction in 2009, the Yamaha V-Star 950 has been recognized as not only one of the top entry-level bikes in the world, but also as one of the best all-around motorcycles. This is due to the fact that the V-Star 950 delivers all three crucial elements needed in a solid bike–performance, handling, and stunning good looks.

The 2011 Yamaha V-Star 950 continues the tradition set forth by its predecessor because, let’s face it, not much has changed on the bike. It’s still powered by a 942cc, air-cooled, SOHC, four-valves per cylinder, 60-degree, V-Twin engine, coupled with an optimized five-speed transmission that delivers unsurpassed performance on both city and highway roads. Acceleration is a thing of beauty, thanks to the bike’s dual bore, 35mm throttle body fuel injection system with throttle position sensor (TPS), and innovative idle speed control (ISP) system.

The Yamaha V-Star 950 also features the same long and low double-cradle steel main frame, with a suspension system that delivers a wonderfully smooth and silky ride on virtually every surface. The suspension consists of a beefy 41mm front fork with 5.3 inches of wheel travel and a monocross single-shock, bottom link, spring preload adjustable rear suspension with 4.3 inches of travel. Equipped with a large 320mm front disc and a 298mm rear disc, the V-Star 950 enjoys impeccable stopping power that only adds to the rider’s confidence.

Also adding to rider confidence is the bike’s 26.6-inch seat height. With the lowest seat height in its class, the Yamaha V-Star 950 is the perfect bike for satisfying varying levels of riders, including shorter riders and female bikers.

The 2011 Yamaha V-Star 950 has a reliable transistorized coil that produces quick starts, even on the coldest days. Its stylish two-into-one exhaust system with a dual expansion chamber muffler and a single element catalytic converter, not only reduces emissions, but also does so without sacrificing the V-Twin’s throaty growl. With a 4.4-gallon teardrop tank, the V-Star 950 delivers more than 200 miles of road time before you'll have to stop and fill up, thanks to its generous 47 mpg fuel economy.

The 2011 Yamaha V-Star 950, like its predecessors, is available in two sub-models – the Base 950 and the Tourer. Both bikes feature the same aggressive body styling and mechanics, but the Tourer has certain road-trip-ready accents and accessories that do not come with the Base, such as a passenger backrest, a tall windshield, and hard case saddlebags.

The 2011 V-Star 950 Base is available in Yamaha’s expertly finished Deep Blue and Raven Black paint schemes, while the Tourer offers riders a choice between a sexy Candy Red finish and the Raven Black color scheme.
