The 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto was introduced in two models; the offroad model and the sport model. The KTM 990 Supermoto T is the sport model, while the KTM 990 Supermoto R is the offroad version. The main differences between the two are that the sport model offers a slightly lower seat and a slightly larger fuel tank for longer highway travel between fuel stops. Both bikes are manufactured in Austria and are offered at just shy of $14,000.
The 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto R is considered a great looking and even better performing bike right off the showroom floor. With carbon heat protection shields and the tank and seat creating an optimal seating situation, the bike not only looks good and is comfortable. It also performs well at higher speeds and in various conditions.
In regard to appearance, the 2011 KTM 990 looks like a hybrid between a dirt bike and a road bike. The frame is similar in shape to a dirt bike, but the forks and road tires give it an on-road look. KTM claims that the 990 Supermoto is one of the best all-around bikes on the market- perfect for offroad fun or daily commuting in the city. It is rather stylish and competes well in its segment in areas of performance and comfort. Moreover, the KTM name has become synonymous with build quality and top-of-the-line engineering, so buyers can feel confident in its reliability.
