The Harley-Davidson VRSC, an acronym standing for V-twin Racing Street Custom line is a unique motorcycle which stands out from other Harley bikes. Loosely based on the V-1000 superbike, the VRSC was introduced to the market in 2001. Its liquid cooled Revolution engine was developed by Harley-Davidson in conjunction with Porsche Motors. Besides its liquid rather than Harley’s standard air cooled engine, the VRSC is also fuel injected and includes overhead camshafts. This powerful engine produces a whopping 120 horsepower and 84 lb-ft of torque. Its five-gallon fuel tank is located beneath the seat, rather than in front of the driver as it is normally found. Two competitive models of the VRSC are available, which include the Night Rod Special and the V-Rod Muscle. This drag-inspired bike offers an aggressive road performance with a distinctive feel and sound that only a Harley-Davidson can provide. Designed to be more athletic than most Harley’s, the VRSC puts itself in line with more performance-oriented bikes available on the market. A host of great accessories are available to spruce up the bikes further, though they include a wealth of great standard features as well.
The Night Rod Special utilizes a black-on-black color scheme which includes a black frame, and a black and chrome motor. Other parts which are usually chrome are also black, such as the transmission cover, parts of the exhaust pipes, and the battery cover. Anti-lock brakes are available for the Night Rod Special, and standard equipment includes Brembo brakes and slotted aluminum wheels. Body colors available for this bike include Sedona Orange, Chrome Yellow, Black Denim, and Brilliant Silver Pearl.
The V-Rod Muscle includes distinctive design details, including air scoops modeled after the air vents of a muscle car and straight dual exhausts with one crossover. These air vents are only cosmetic though they enhance the bikes muscular appearance. Its short rear fender is unique and overall this bike bears a lean and aggressive style. Only solid colors are available for the V-Rod Muscle, and the included buddy seat is rather modest in size. The staggered instrument cluster design lights up in red, yellow, and orange.
