2011 Harley-Davidson Road Glide

2011 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Custom

Intro

Venerable yet vigorous, Harley-Davidson’s motorcycles maintain a dominant place in motorcycling in 2011 – in part thanks to their powerful touring motorcycle, the 2011 Harley-Davidson Road Glide. Sporting a 103-inch engine that offers almost 10 percent more torque than the previous year’s engine, the 1689.7cc, four-stroke develops 102 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm and horsepower at 5000 rpm. This strong performance is coupled to a sleek but robust machine whose twin headlights are perhaps its weakest styling point. The 2011 Harley-Davidson Road Glide is a genuine Harley motorcycle that combines vintage quality with finely tuned modern enhancements.

Though a trifle top-heavy, this motorcycle handles well and features very reliable steering. Sturdy, crisp acceleration and smooth performance make the bike pleasant to ride, with a touch of excitement mixed in with long distance cruising comfort. The anti-lock brakes function vigorously to produce safer riding, with very quick and moderately slick action, though not quite as velvety as some other systems. Vibration is minimized though the characteristic voice of Harley motorcycles is satisfyingly present in the Road Glide.

The 2011 Harley-Davidson Road Glide comes in Custom and Ultra variants. Both are strong and smooth riding, remaining very stable on straight-aways and curves alike. Though not as head-turning as some more extreme models, the Road Glide has plenty of presence and a sleekly athletic outline. Beginning with a fairing reminiscent of a hammerhead shark, the motorcycle’s powerful body extends back to streamlined rear features that suggest both swiftness and sinewy determination. Combining vigor and comfort in equal measures, the Road Glide is a reliable, contemporary touring motorcycle at home on all types of roadways.
