The 2011 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide is a touring style motorcycle more closely aligned with cruiser motorcycle styling than upright or sport motorcycle styling. The 2011 Electra Glide offers four submodels. A Classic (FLHTCU), a Classic Ultra (FLHTCU), and an Ultra Limited (FLHTK) comprise the main three submodels in the 2011 Electra Glide lineup. A top-of-the-line, exclusive CVO Ultra Classic (FLHTCUSE6) is available as a 1500 unit, limited production submodel. The Classic, Ultra Classic, and Ultra Limited submodels are carryovers from 2010. The CVO Ultra Classic is a carryover from 2010 but is updated for 2011. All Electra Glides are modern touring bikes with styling elements of classic American design. The Electra Glide delivers a competent ride, and promises continental crossing ability while providing an undeniable American motorcycle experience. The 2011 Electra Glide features Harley-Davidson’s innovative Touring chassis with a single-spar, rigid backbone frame and a stout swingarm which are the underpinnings for the entire design. These design features ensure that the motorcycle can withstand the strains a large engine places on the bike’s infrastructure, while also providing long-distance rider comfort and vehicle stability. A telescopic front fork and a rear, twin sided swing arm suspension provide stabile handling and sweeping-turn stability. Dual hydraulic discs up front, and a single hydraulic disc in the rear provide adequate stopping power for these 860-pound and heftier American sightseers. Anti-lock brakes are available.
The 2011 Classic Electra Glide and the 2011 Classic Ultra Electra Glide house a 1584-cc engine which produces smooth torque and readily available power. Both submodels set the standard for long-haul touring comfort and convenience among American motorcycles. These bikes offer luxury touring features like Tour-Pak carriers, a Harmon/Kardon Audio System, and two-passenger comfort seats with a passenger backrest. Other features include injection-molded hard saddlebags, and standard electronic cruise control on the Classic Ultra. The Electra Glide Ultra Limited adds a 1688-cc engine to the mix and comes fully-loaded with anti-lock brakes, electronic cruise control, and a Smart Security System. Harley-Davidson ups the ante with unique two-tone paint schemes, a premium Tour-Pak luggage rack, and heated hand grips as standard features on the 2011 Ultra Limited.
The 2011 Harley-Davidson CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide is a limited-production motorcycle that combines custom paint, a potent powertrain, and a well-chosen array of top-line accessories. The vehicles are assembled at the Harley-Davidson Vehicle Operations facility in York, Pa. In addition to housing an 1803-cc engine, and equipping standard anti-lock brakes, the CVO doubles as a proving ground for innovative features which may appear on lesser submodels in the future. The king-of-the-Electra-Glide-hill CVO proves its merit with a suspended and heated, two-up seat that includes leather inserts, chrome billet end caps with black spears on the dual mufflers, and a passenger area, springboard-style suspension system. A fuel-injected, Screamin' Eagle, 110 V-Twin (the largest-displacement engine H-D produces) powers the CVO. So as not to forget that engine sits between rider legs, Harley-Davidson includes tasteful styling features like a Screamin' Eagle 110 intake insert, and 110 Screamin' Eagle identifiers on the cylinder heads. For the road warrior, the CVO provides a GPS navigation system, and remote-control power locks on the Tour-Pak, the saddlebags, and for the ignition. The CVO comes in an exclusive Black Ember & Rio Red with Flame graphic color scheme, with the inner fairing assembly, the inner fairing cap, and rear fender filler strips color-matched to the CVO color scheme. However, exclusivity comes at a price and the CVO boasts a hefty one.
