Intro

The modern three-wheeled motorcycle comes in two configurations, traditional and reversed, and spearheading the trend towards tadpole (reverse) layouts – two wheels in front, on in rear – is Can-Am. The distinctive look and style of the Can-Am line, especially the Spyder series, has won it acclaim and notice as it bucks the trend of the standard tricycle layout for most motorcycles. The 2011 Can-Am Spyder layout means a sporty ride and top-end stability in the curve.

The 2011 Spyder is Can-Am's touring motorcycle with several trim levels available. The base level is the RS, whose specifications are below, which can be upgraded to higher-end (and more expensive) models. All are based on the same Spyder chassis with most improvements being in engine displacement (power) and suspension type (sportier or with more cushion). All include or build on the basic package detailed here.

The Spyder RS is a powerful, enjoyable ride and as a cruiser, it is expected to be very comfortable for the long haul but have a little punch for the quick trip as well. It delivers on both counts handily. The huge amount of storage space and distinctive look of the Spyder definitely set it apart from the competition, especially the Harley-Davidson and Honda models.
