2011 California Scooter Co. Military Series Base

The California Scooter Co. began production of the Military Series in 2011 after displaying their custom-made Sarge bike and receiving a lot of positive feedback. Given that the Sarge was intricately designed and high in costs to produce, they put together an alternative for those seeking a 150-cc scooter with a military flare. This was done by simply photo shopping the colors and design on top of their Classic model. The results were so favorable that they went into production almost immediately. The design incorporates the simple star design seen on many old military vehicles, and a very classic, round, military-style headlamp. Each bike receives a custom paint job, and the bike comes with many color options, which includes OD green and camouflage.

Manufactured in La Verne, California, the Military Series features a 149-cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 13 horsepower and 9.1 lb-ft of torque. The low amount of torque means that acceleration isn't fantastic, but it is more than enough to get the small bike moving, especially with lighter riders. Estimated fuel economy is 90 mpg, with a minimum output of 76 mpg. With a fuel capacity of three gallons, the Military Series can go long ways between stops at the gas station. The rear suspension is rigid, and the front suspension is a telescopic fork that allows for plenty of flexibility without sacrificing a firm ride.

The simple design, light weight, and relatively cheap price of the 2011 California Scooter Co. Military Series bikes make them an excellent choice for beginners and long-time riders alike. The military design adds styling appeal, and the use of a kick and electric starter gives it a more authentic military feel. While these bikes are powerhouses, they are street legal and can be driven on the interstate for short amounts of time if needed. The large amount of accessories available includes many military-themed accessories to help with the authentic styling. For commuting, these bikes are an excellent choice. The comfort of the seats make them possible for touring, but the relatively small engine may discourage this use for some veteran riders. Overall, this is an attractive and affordable solution.
