The 2010 Yamaha FJR’s engine is a compact, lightweight, 1298-cc, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled, transverse-mounted, inline-four engine with four valves per cylinder. Equipped with a curved radiator with custom ducting and twin-ring cooling fans, the engine and cockpit are always kept cool. The lightweight forged pistons with carburized connecting rods ensure optimum strength and help minimize reciprocating mass for outstanding high-rpm durability and performance. A low-vibration crankshaft with two gear-driven secondary counter-balancers provides a smooth and relaxing ride for both the rider and passenger. Synchronized movement of the throttle, clutch, and shifter provides a great riding experience.
