2010 Ural Retro 750

The 2010 Ural Retro 750 is another addition to the Russian company""s iconic line of sidecar motorcycles that combine technology with reliability. The stylish touring motorcycle is different as compared to other Ural variants as it has a different ergonomic design for smooth handling. The Retro is not only wider, longer and lower but has a different bike frame to facilitate improved performance. At the same time, the model also has the distinct pre-WWII look that the heavy sidecar motorcycle-maker is so famous for.

Since the inception of the brand in the 1940s, Ural has incorporated a lot of changes to bring the quality and functionality of its different variants to modern standards while maintaining its distinct retro looks. The 2010 Ural Retro adds to the past, certain advanced amenities afforded by modern technology like electric start, Brembo brakes and Sachs suspension. The model has a rear Twin Sided Swing Arm suspension with adjustable shock or spring pre-load. The frontal Sachs suspension, on the other hand, is of Telescopic Fork type. The Retro 750 also features Brembo front and rear Drum brakes. This meticulously-designed vehicle is intended for road use only as it has a lower ground clearance of 4.9 inches and 340 kg of dry weight. With a different bike and sidecar frame, head lamp styling and foot brake pedal arrangement; the 2010 Ural Retro truly redefines the concept of ageless styling in every way.

Complementing its retro design and finish is its stout OHV, 4-cycle, opposed twin cylinder engine. Air cooled and reliable, this engine layout is the heart of every Ural variant designed and could very well be the last you ever ride. The engine performance is further boosted by Dual Keihin L 22 AA, 32mm Carburetors and Brembo braking components. Combined with its sidecar functionality, the Ural Retro is perfect for traversing those twisting country roads that would have been difficult to bridge otherwise.

Although the Ural bikes were initially manufactured as a WWII BMW reproduction in the Russian market, they soon became popular in different parts of the world including the United States, Belgium, Egypt and Brazil. The bikes were earlier designed by the Soviet Union to facilitate mobilization of the Red Army against the invading German military. The first model was reportedly designed by reverse engineering the 1930s BMW R71 sidecar bike. For the purpose, five units of the late BMW model were secretly brought to Russia and dismantled for research by Soviet engineers. Later, in the post-Communist era, bike enthusiasts within and outside the country became mesmerized with its high retro design and sidecar usability. By the 1950s, the company stopped producing military models and started producing motorcycles for civilian use and for outdoor enthusiasts.

So, for those who still like living in the past, the 2010 Ural Retro 750 is the perfect option as it combines vintage looks with modern amenities and advanced technology. Besides, the vehicle also offers a great canvas to personalize so that one can create one’s own unique customized sidecar motorcycle.
