2010 Husqvarna TE 510

Intro

Owned by an Italian company but born in Sweden, Husqvarna was purchased by BMW back in 2007. Since then, the German parent company has injected the brand with much stricter quality control measures and an increased production capacity. The company’s TE series is its fuel injected, four-stroke Enduro bike lineup. It includes the TE250, TE310, TE450, and TE510. While being well suited for competition, all of the Husqvarna motorcycles in this lineup are street legal, making them easy to ride connecting roads between trails, or to run errands around town. And riders will certainly have fun doing it.

For 2010, the entire Husqvarna TE model line has been updated with IPD, which stands for In-mold Plastic Decoration. This means the graphics are a part of the panels themselves. Because of this construction, the graphics are prevented from rubbing off, which lends longevity to each bike's overall appearance. The plastic panels themselves are made of stronger, more flexible plastics than the material used on the previous year’s model. All of the models in the TE line of motorcycles also received brighter front headlights, reinforced frames, and 15mm shorter swing arms, for better handling on the bike through sharp turns.

The Husqvarna TE250, TE450, and TE510 models received suspension upgrades in the form of closed-cartridge inverted Kayaba forks and new triple clamps, which are designed to offer a better balance between flex and rigidity. These three models also got updated LED taillights, for even greater visibility at night or in less-than-perfect riding conditions.

All of the 2010 Husqvarna TE models (save the TE250), should run cooler for this model year, thanks to new radiator hoses. Not to be outdone, however, the TE250 received a completely new engine from the manufacturer. The new power plant (shared by the motocross-centric TC250) weighs only 22 kg and sports a shorter stroke than its predecessor, which should improve its revving ability. Unlike the TC, though, the TE250 has a six-speed transmission, the sixth gear adding extra top end.

The Husqvarna TE250 is known for its excellent balance and maneuverability and its smooth, linear power delivery. The 2010 Husqvarna TE310 represents a balance between the agile handling of the TE250, and the raw power of the TE450 and TE510. The Husqvarna TE450 and TE510 are the high-power bikes of this lineup, and when it comes to speed, they are known to deliver, without sacrificing much of the light-footed handling of their smaller-displacement brethren.
