Since 2008, the Canadian company Can-Am has produced a number of different motorcycles to meet the unique specifications of the consumers they service. Despite producing five separate models though, the Can-Am Spyder Roadster RS is undoubtedly the most popular version to date.
The 2010 Can-Am Spyder Roadster RS is the most impressive yet, and like all other models, it comes with a single rear wheel and two wheels in the front to help give the rider maximum control of the bike. The Can-Am Roadster RS has a stylish, sport-touring body style in black with blue trim and a sturdy plastic body and steel frame. The Roadster RS has a large presence, standing 45.1 inches tall and 105 inches long, but the bike also has only a 4.5-inch ground clearance, allowing for easy entry onto and off of the bike. The 2010 Can-Am Spyder Roadster also comes equipped with a passenger seat alongside the driver’s seat.
Beyond that, this particular Can-Am Spyder Roadster comes equipped with a rugged four-stroke, V-Twin Rotax engine, giving it the feel of being the most powerful bike on the road. The Roadster RS has a 57mm fuel injector, along with a liquid cooling system, to keep your bike riding at optimal levels. The roadster comes with an electric starter as well and features a 6.6-gallon fuel capacity.
When a rider actually gets out on the road on this bike, the Can-Am Spyder Roadster’s steering and suspension allows each rider to enjoy a smooth and comfortable ride. The 2010 Roadster RS comes with Independent Double A-arm front suspension and twin-sided spring arm suspension in the back. Not to mention it also has a front-adjustable fork pre-load and rear-adjustable shock spring pre-load.
Experienced riders will quickly note that given the Spyder Roadster's rear wheel is slightly larger than the front wheels, this fact allows for a smooth ride, even at top speeds on the highway. As things stand, the front wheels are five inches in width and 14 inches in diameter, while the rear wheel is seven and 15 inches, respectively. Standard anti-lock brakes allow for even the most novice riders to stop on a dime whenever necessary.
Finally, the 2010 Can-Am Spyder Roadster RS comes with a number of unique and cool features to separate itself from leading competitors. The Spyder Roadster has standard dash space, and with a dry weight of 699 pounds is also bulky enough to provide plenty of space for a helmet and lockable storage. In addition, the 2010 Can-Am Spyder Roadster comes equipped with handgrips, and vinyl material on its seats to give the rider and his or her passenger the true feel of comfort and class, even as they hit top speeds on the freeway. Backrest location is also available for the driver.
If the 2010 Can-Am Spyder Roadster RS doesn’t sound like the model for you, you’re in luck: Can-Am also had four other models come out in the 2010 calendar year. They were the Can-Am Spyder Roadster RS-S, Can-Am Spyder Roadster RT, Can-Am Spyder Roadster RT Audio & Convenience, and Can-Am Spyder Roadster RT-S. Overall, most of the models are fairly similar, as is the case with the Roadster RS, and all of them come with a standard five-speed manual transmission, as well as the Double A-arm front suspension and twin-sided swing arm rear suspension.
Where the greatest difference lies, though, is in the horsepower: unlike the Roadster RS and Roadster RS-S, the Roadster RT, Roadster RT Audio & Convenience, and Roadster RT-S all come with a bit less horsepower (100 bhp), and more torque at 80 lb-ft. In comparison, the Roadster RS and Roadster RS-S each have 106 bph of horsepower and 77 lb-ft of torque.
