2010 Big Dog Wolf Base

The 2010 Big Dog Wolf may be one of the best-looking custom motorcycles to be offered as part of a full production line. As all big dogs are theoretically born of the wolf, so are Big Dog Motorcycles. When Sheldon Coleman Jr. began BDM in his Wichita, Kansas garage, few people probably imagined he would present head-turning lines and a signature, luxury look to a chopper motorcycle. The 2010 Big Dog Wolf continues in the vein of its predecessor, offering clean lines that boast curves reminiscent of the foothills near its birthplace.

The Big Dog Wolf was manufactured to be more than a head-turner, and rather a model offering supreme comfort and performance to motorcycle enthusiasts who simply want to ride the best. The ability to customize this bike makes the Big Dog Wolf a capable pro-street chopper, or a capable and powerful customer tourer. The Wolf presents everything from passenger seats and sissybar backrests, to a front fairing windscreen, which makes long rides much more enjoyable.

The lines of the 2010 Big Dog Wolf are unmistakable. Every aspect of this bike was planned to intricate detail. When the Big Dog design team contacted S&S to develop a robust and power 121 inch (1976cc) X-Wedge motor, it was desired that the capable team at S&S could offer something that would give riders more than pure performance—the motor would also have to enhance the overall aesthetic of the bike by being implemented into the design scheme. From front to rear fender, the Big Dog Wolf looks more like a concept bike, than something that was pushed into production, and offered at a relatively affordable price.

The rake is at 45 degrees, yet the Big Dog Wolf somehow possesses the overall look of an artistically crafted cruiser. Everything on the motorcycle is a little bit larger than what is found on production bikes, especially the mass production motorcycles that would be considered competitors of this Big Dog. From end to end, this motorcycle possesses more length than some cars. At roughly 9.5 feet, this is not a motorcycle for a beginner, regardless of how appealing and alluring it seems at first glance. Regardless of size, experienced cruiser or touring riders will find that the 2010 Big Dog Wolf offers a very comfortable ride, and riding position.

The S&S X-Wedge is smoothly powerful. With a V-Twin so large, tremendous amounts of vibration would be expected at low and high revs, but not with the X-Wedge. This powerful piece of American machinery delivers pure riding joy to a rear that is dressed with a 220 tire. The wide rear tire presents more of the Big Dog signature style, without coming off as obnoxious.

It is worth finding a 2010 Big Dog Wolf for the test drive alone. That doesn't mean that this bike will be for everyone. In fact, some simply won't enjoy the look and feel when sitting in the driver's seat. For others, it will serve as a definitive example of a contemporary custom American motorcycle. At the very least, it serves as a continuation in the excellent design execution offered by Big Dog Motorcycles in 2010.
