2009 Yamaha Raider S

Intro

The 2009 Yamaha Raider is one of the sleekest, sexiest cruisers ever to come out of Japan. Featuring a super-low, lean, and long profile of 101.2 inches, this chopper-inspired bike effectively leads the new generation of cruisers. The Yamaha Raider even comes standard with custom-inspired parts, making it almost like buying a custom-made bike, only right out of the showroom.

The Yamaha Raider is powered by a 113 cubic-inch, air-cooled, V-Twin OHV, 1854cc engine that's been tuned to deliver peak performance between 2,500 and 4,500 rpms. Built upon a light aluminum-cast double-cradle frame with a six-degree yoke angle, the Raider is incredibly agile and responsive for such a low and long bike. The low 27.3 inch seat height aids in the bike's maneuverability, and ensures the rider is comfortable and confident at all times.

Shifting on the 2009 Yamaha Raider is controlled by a smooth-operating five-speed manual transmission with multi-plate wet clutch, and fuel delivery is handled with perfect precision, thanks to the bike's Twin-Bore electronic fuel injection, and throttle position sensor. Ignition is easy and reliable, as the Yamaha Raider is outfitted with an innovative transistor controlled ignition system that helps ensure a strong start in every situation.

The bike's wheels offer a smooth and seamless ride, with a 70.9 inch wheelbase with 5.1 inches of travel up front, and 3.5 inches of travel at the rear. In fact, the wheels themselves are equally impressive, with the front wheel being a five-spoke, cast 21-inch custom with a 120/70-21 tire, and the rear having a five-spoke cast 18-inch custom wheel with a 210/40R-18 tire. Braking is beautifully managed by the bike's 298mm dual hydraulic front-end discs and large, 310mm rear disc.

Built with aggressive-looking chopper-like angles and contoured fenders, the Yamaha Raider has a rebellious attitude that looks as good as it feels. The 4.2 gallon gas tank fits beautifully in line with the bike's demeanor, and gives the bike's instruments a perfectly situated home in their chromed housing. While the chopper-esque look and feel of the bike may not suggest the possibility of a rider, the Raider actually offers the capability, with a very roomy and comfortable passenger seat already included. Add in the ability to get 42 miles to the gallon, and the 2009 Yamaha Raider will allow you and your passenger many enjoyable miles before a stop at a gas station will be required.

The 2009 Yamaha Raider is available in two sub-models – the Base model, and the Raider S, with both bikes utilizing the same chassis and engine. The only differences are in fit and finish. The Base Raider is available in two color schemes, Raven and Liquid Silver with flames, while the Raider S is available in either Raven or Candy Red with flames.
