2009 Peirspeed Sachs MadAss 125

The 2009 Peirspeed Sachs MadAss is a scooter that American bike importer and distributor Peirspeed released for the 2009 model year and marketed as a supreme, German-engineered machine. As a performance-oriented bike, the MadAss has a host of third-party aftermarket parts to boost performance. Two versions of the scooter exist: the MadAss 50 and the MadAss 125.

The two models that bear the 2009 Peirspeed Sachs MadAss designation are named after their engine displacement, as evidenced by their three-digit suffixes. The MadAss 50, which is the older version—it debuted in 2006—has a four-stroke, single-cylinder engine with a displacement of 49.4 cubic centimeters, or cc. (It is rounded up to 50cc). The MadAss 50 engine generates 2.7 horsepower at 7000 revolutions per minute (rpm). For the 2009 model year, Peirspeed introduced the MadAss 125, which has a higher engine displacement, at 124cc (rounded up to 125cc). It also generates more horsepower, with eight horsepower at 8400 rpm.

Each 2009 Peirspeed Sachs MadAss engine has an air cooler for cooling down its hot parts; this feature is meant for prevention of malfunction from overheating. An electric starter and Mikuni carburetor is instrumental for a quick engine ignition, especially during colder days. The muffler under the seat uses exhaust catalyst technology to reduce air pollution.

The engine on the 2009 Peirspeed Sachs MadAss is paired with a four-speed manual transmission, which is implemented for a more exciting ride than an automatic gearbox. With a gas tank that can hold up to 1.22 gallons, fuel economy is estimated at 105 mpg for the MadAss 50 with and a lower 85 mpg for the MadAss 125.

The 2009 Peirspeed Sachs MadAss is available in Matte Black, Graphite, Sun Yellow, and Bright Silver, with Racing Red added for the MadAss 125. Halogen headlights, rearview mirrors, exhaust guard, and an engine immobilizer are standard on each scooter. Hydraulic front shocks and coil-over rear shocks provide stability to the ride, and the dual-wheel disc brakes provide superior braking prowess over the front-disc/rear-drum layout. Topping off the drivetrain and sporty look of the 2009 MadAss are huge 16-inch aluminum wheels.

The 2009 Peirspeed Sachs MadAss is about 72 inches long, 30 inches wide, and 40 inches high. The one-piece vinyl seat, large enough to accommodate the driver and one passenger, is set between 33 and 34 inches high. The dry weight of the scooter is 187 pounds for the MadAss 50 and a heavier 209 pounds for the MadAss 125.
