2009 Peirspeed Key West

2009 Peirspeed Key West 49cc

The 2009 Peirspeed Key West is a motor scooter from Peirspeed, a United States-based importer and distributor of Taiwan Golden Bee (TGB) bikes, manufactured for the 2009 model year. Sharing the sporty styling with its model-year relative the RM50, the Key West is marketed as a nimble yet rugged sport bike. Like many Peirspeed bikes, the 2009 Key West has an engine displacement that is measured at 49.3 cubic centimeters, thus the term ""49cc scooter."" The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the bike is $1,749.

Powering the 2009 Peirspeed Key West is a single-cylinder two-stroke engine that produces 4.9 brake horsepower (hp) at 7,500 revolutions per minute (rpm). This puts it on par with the similarly sports-oriented 2009 Peirspeed R50X. The engine features an air cooler for cooling down its hot parts so that it does not malfunction. The electric start allows for quick and easy operation of the bike, and a Mikuni carburetor is included for rides during cold weather. The muffler of the 2009 Key West integrates exhaust catalyst technology for cutting down on air pollution and fulfilling emissions regulations.

Paired with the engine of the 2009 Peirspeed Key West is a continuous variable transmission (CVT). Full automatic, the CVT can shift through an unlimited number of effective gear ratios, which means that the engine can run at its most efficient rpm. The result is an improved fuel economy for the scooter.

The 2009 Peirspeed Key West uses a rear-wheel drive. During acceleration, weight is transferred to the rear wheels, thus improving traction with the road. Each 2009 Key West scooter gets a 1.3-gallon gasoline tank. Thanks to its powertrain layout, the Key West provides a great fuel economy, which peaks at 100 miles per gallon (mpg).

Customers can get the 2009 Peirspeed Key West in any of the following three colors: red, yellow, and black. Although not as sporty as the R50X, it has halogen headlights for superior exterior lighting. TGB gives the bike inverted front shocks and dual coil-over rear shocks to improve stability during cruising. For brakes, the Key West sticks with the regular front-disc rear-drum layout.

Up to two people can get on the 2009 Peirspeed Key West – the driver and a passenger – thanks to a vinyl one-piece seat standing at 31 inches. Each bike rides on ten-inch aluminum wheels. Other features of the 2009 Key West include: locking steering column for extra security when parked, digital dashboard at the front that includes a speedometer and fuel gauge, and under-body storage large enough for a full-face helmet.
