2009 KYMCO Sento 50

Intro

The 2009 Kymco Sento is a retro-style scooter from Taiwanese automaker Kwang Yang Motor Co, Ltd. (Kymco.) for the 2009 model year. It was designed and marketed as a budget-oriented bike with analog instrumentation as an homage to older scooters. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the 2009 Kymco Sento is $1,899.

The 2009 Kymco Sento is also referred to as the Sento 50, with the two-digit suffix representing its engine displacement. Its 4-stroke single-cylinder engine has a displacement of around 49 cubic centimeters (cc), which is rounded up to 50. Thus the 2009 Kymco Sento is classified as a ""50cc scooter.""

The engine on the 2009 Kymco Sento has an air cooler for cooling down the unit’s hot parts. The benefit is reducing the possibility of malfunction due to overheating. An electric starter and Keihin carburetor are implemented for quick engine ignition, which is especially useful for cold weather. The muffler under the seat uses exhaust catalyst technology to reduce air pollution. Other technical specs of the Kymco engine include a bore and stroke of 1.54 by 1.63 inches.

The 2009 Kymco Sento engine is mated with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), so named because unlike other types of gearboxes, it can shift through an infinite number of effective gear ratios. This leads to a more efficient fuel economy. For the 2009 Sento, fuel efficiency--with a peak gas tank capacity of 1.3 gallons--is estimated at 105 mpg, which provides an excellent driving range.

The 2009 Kymco Sento has a unique two-color finish. Customers can get any of the three following combinations: Light Blue/White, Light Brown/White and Rose/White. Halogen headlights, rearview mirrors and exhaust guard are standard on the bike. Braking is provided by a front-disc rear-drum layout. True to its retro styling, the Kymco Sento has an analog speedometer and fuel level indicator. Each 2009 Sento rides on 10-inch aluminum wheels.

The 2009 Kymco Sento’s physical measurements consist of a 67-inch length, 27-inch width and 40-inch height, with a wheelbase of around 46 inches. Its one-piece vinyl seat, which is large enough to accommodate the driver and a passenger, is set at 29 inches high. The dry weight of the scooter is estimated at 183 lbs.
