Representing part of the mid-level scooter line-up of Hyosung Corp.’s S&T Motors division, the Rally was available as a single model for the 2009 model year. The scooter is officially known as the ""2009 Hyosung Rally SF50."" It had a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,899.
Available as a red-and-black scooter, the 2009 Hyosung Rally is partly named after its 49-cubic centimeter (cc) engine displacement. (It is rounded up to 50 cc, thus the ""SF50"" suffix.) The engine on each 2009 Rally is a two-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder that generates 3.5 horsepower at 7,000 revolutions per minute (RPM) and 2.8 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 RPM. It has a reed intake valve configuration, a bore and stroke of 1.61 x 1.47 inches (41 x 37.4 millimeters) and compression ratio of 7.2 to 1. A 14-inch Mikuni carburetor fuels the engine, which is ignited using the scooter’s electric starter.
Each 2009 Hyosung Rally engine is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission. Also known as CVT, this automatic gearbox variant can shift through an infinite number of gears to make the engine run more efficiently, consequently increasing the scooter’s fuel economy. Each 2009 Rally gets a fuel tank that can hold up to 1.3 gallons (4.8 liters).
For its stopping power, the 2009 Hyosung Rally relies on a 6.4-inch (162-millimeter) dual disc at the front and a drum brake at the back. For absorbing bumps and promoting a smooth ride, the 2009 Prima uses a suspension composed of a telescopic fork at the front and a single-sided swing arm with a shock absorber at the rear. Each 2009 Rally rides on ten-inch aluminum wheels.
Designed as a half-fairing scooter, the 2009 Hyosung Rally uses a steel frame. Front and rear fenders, fork guards and an exhaust guard function as covering. A center stand provides parking, and a two-piece vinyl seat provides enough room for the driver and a passenger. Digital instrumentation on the 2009 Rally consists of a trip odometer, speedometer and fuel level warning gauge.
There is a section on the 2009 Hyosung Rally for hanging a helmet. Also included are a rear rack for luggage, and under-seat and lockable compartments for additional storage. A halogen headlight and a pair of rearview mirrors are provided for enhancing visual perception when on the road.
Each 2009 Hyosung Rally has a length of 72.6 inches (1,844 mm), width of 26.8 inches (680.7 mm), height of 46.7 inches (1,186.2 mm), and wheelbase of 50.6 inches (1,285.2 mm). The ground clearance and seat height of the 2009 Rally are measured at 5.5 inches (139.7 mm) and 29.7 inches (754.4 mm), respectively. The 2009 Prima has a dry weight of 194 lbs. (88 kilograms).
The 2009 Hyosung Rally is almost identical with the 2009 Hyosung Prima, since both scooters share most of their components. However, the Rally has lighter wheels and more digital instrumentation. Customers who prefer the slight enhancements would be better off with the 2009 Rally.
