2009 Genuine Scooter Co. Stella 150

One of the more powerful and popular scooters from Chicago-based Genuine Scooter Company, the Stella was available as a lone model for the 2009 model year. It is officially known as the 2009 Genuine Scooter Co Stella 150, and it came with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $3,599.

The number ""150"" that acts as the Stella's suffix stands for the displacement of its two-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder engine; it is measured at 150 cubic centimeters. The engine is fueled by a carburetor, and it uses a reed intake valve configuration. For starting the 2009 Stella, Genuine Scooters provides a manual kick starter and a more convenient electric starter.

Unlike most scooters, including those from Genuine Co, the 2009 Genuine Scooter Co Stella uses a four-speed manual transmission. It is not as fuel efficient as the more popular Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which shifts through a high number of gear ratios to promote greater engine efficiency. However, the 2009 Stella still provides a great fuel economy, at 90 miles per gallon.

For braking, the 2009 Genuine Scooter Co Stella relies on a hydraulic disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the back. Although it is not as effective in braking as all-wheel disc brakes, the 2009 Stella's front-disc-brake rear-drum-brake layout is superior to the all-wheel drum brake layout. The suspension on the 2009 Stella comprises a single arm at the front and a single-sided swing arm with a shock absorber at the rear. Each scooter rides on ten-inch steel wheels.

The 2009 Genuine Scooter Co Stella uses a steel frame for its sturdiness. It is available in five color schemes: Avocado, Black, Powder Blue, Red, and Tangerine. Seating on the 2009 Stella is designed for up to two occupants, and each scooter gets a center stand for parking.

For digital instrumentation, the 2009 Genuine Scooter Co Stella comes with a trip odometer, speedometer and fuel level warning indicator. For storage, each scooter has a lockable compartment, glove box, and a place to hang a helmet. Also included on the 2009 Stella are halogen lighting and a pair of rearview mirrors to improve visual perception during driving.

With certain components, the 2009 Genuine Scooter Co Stella is not very much different from other model-year entries in Genuine's scooter line-up. However, it is rated as one of the company's higher-end scooters, with a comparatively larger displacement engine. It also has very good fuel efficiency and decent handling and stopping power.
