The 2008 Yamaha TW, also known as the 2008 Yamaha TW200, was the twenty-second model year of the on-off road bike that Japanese manufacturer Yamaha introduced in 1987. Available in only one model, the 2008 Yamaha TW had a manufacturer""s suggested retail price of $3,799.
Powering the 2008 Yamaha TW is a four-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder engine that displaces at 196 cubic centimeters (thus the ""200"" number, since the displacement is rounded up). The engine has a bore and stroke of 2.64 x 2.19 (67 x 55.7 millimeters), a 9.5-to-1 compression ratio, two intake valves on its single cylinder and a 28-millimeter Mikuni carburetor fueling it.
Each engine on the 2008 Yamaha TW is hooked up with a five-speed manual transmission. For fuel, Yamaha installs on each bike a gas tank that can hold up to 1.8 gallons (6.8 liters), with a 0.45-gallon (1.7-l) reserve.
For braking, the 2008 Yamaha TW relies on a front-disc-brake rear-drum-brake layout, with an 8.7-inch (220-mm) hydraulic disc and 4.3-inch (110-mm) drum. An 18-inch aluminum wheel goes at the front and a 14-inch one goes at the back; both are wrapped in tubed Bridgestone® tires.
Sporting a white color scheme with a decal kit, the 2008 Yamaha TW uses a solid steel frame. Digital instrumentation on the on-off road bike consists of a trip odometer and speedometer. A one-piece vinyl seat provides enough room to accommodate two occupants. A halogen headlight and a pair of rearview mirrors are included for enhanced visual perception when driving.
The 2008 Yamaha TW has a length of 82.3 inches (2,090.9 millimeters), width of 32.3 inches (820.4 mm), height of 44.1 inches (1,120.1 mm) and wheelbase of 52.2 inches (1325.9 mm). The bike""s ground clearance and seat height are measured at 10.4 inches (264.2 mm) and 31.1 inches (789.9 mm), respectively. The dry weight of the 2008 Yamaha TW is estimated at 260 lbs. (117.9 kilograms).
