The 2008 Schwinn Valo 50 is new to the lineup of Schwinn scooters. 2008 is the first year it has been offered to the public and is similar to other sporty type of 50cc scooters that Schwinn has to offer. However it has a more concept car look to it with lots of vertical lines, sharp corners and aggressive looking body work rather than the traditional bulky scooters with a more bulbous design and rounded features, similar to those seen on the streets of Europe. If you are looking for a scooter with a more original look, one that embraces the genre of concept car designs then the Valo 50 may be for you. It also has a much more sporty suspension than most other 50cc scooters making for a much more fun time while riding.
The Schwinn Valo 50 comes standard with a single-cylinder, four-stroke engine that delivers approximately 2.7 horsepower and 4.8 lb-ft of torque to the wheel. The engine is air cooled for quality cooling to make for a much more reliable and durable engine. This engine is extremely efficient with a fuel economy of nearly 100 miles per gallon (mpg) however it does have a smaller engine, producing small amounts of power that are not going to win you any drag racing competitions. The engine also uses a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) design to smoothly deliver the correct amount of air needed by the engine at various speeds. This system improves reliability and fuel economy than most other intake manifold designs. The Valo 50 carburetor is made from reliable components to increase durability and help deliver precise amounts of fuel, increasing precise delivery of air and fuel mixture ratios. The scooter also uses both an electric starter with a kick start option. The electric starter is reliable and makes the scooter that much easier to use, however for emergency situations the scooter can be started by a simple kick.
The Valo 50 uses a transmission with continuously variable technology to automatically shift gears without the need for a clutch. This transmission is very smooth shifting and keeps noise to a minimum by running at lower temperatures. The Valo 50 suspension is larger and much sportier than other 50cc scooters. It uses a 1.1 inch front telescopic fork and a rear single sided swing arm with a single shock absorber. The bigger suspension makes for a much more accommodating system by supporting more weight while also having the features and technology for increased handling, quicker response and more nimble maneuvering.
The overall design of the scooter combines body style and design, a fuel efficient engine, smooth shifting transmission, spacious floorboards and ergonomically positioned handlebars to make for a quick and agile scooter that makes riding much more fun than before.
