Intro

The 2008 Schwinn Hope 50 continues to prove the reliability, durability and quality craftsmanship that has surrounded the Schwinn name for decades. The Hope 50 is a small scooter that is primarily designed for light city riding for the weekend errands and commuting to and from work. It uses an efficient single-cylinder, four-stroke, 50cc engine to deliver nearly 2.7 horsepower and 4.8 lb-ft of torque. It is not a scooter that is made for long rides at highway speeds but is ideal for all traffic conditions seen on today’s city streets. It engine uses single overhead camshafts (SOHC) to deliver proper amounts of air to each of the valves without overwhelming the engine. It uses a continuously variable transmission to automatically shift gears with ease and minimal noise.

The suspension uses a front telescopic fork and a rear single sided swing arm with a single shock absorber. The suspension and the steel chassis provide good handling and response for added ease of mind while riding in erratic traffic conditions on city street. The floor board has a good amount of foot room while the seat is made from soft vinyl material to keep the back positioned in an ergonomically friendly way. The handlebars are set at a proper height and are spaced at an ideal distance to decrease shoulder stress and promote good posture. The braking system uses a hydraulic caliper with a single disc in the front and a drum brake in the rear. They both provide enough braking power to stop this 50cc scooter.
