2008 Fischer MRX 650


In the early days, Fischer MRX motorcycles were hard to find. Only 20 were made in 2006, the first year of production. Now several hundred of the American-made bikes are available annually, though the number isn’t anywhere close to those manufactured by Japanese and European motorcycle makers. Fischer Motor Company was started by American Dan Fischer, a former superbike racer, who wanted to build an American sport bike. Although billed as American made, many major parts are manufactured outside the United States. For example, the 650 cc V-twin engine is made by Hyosung of Korea, which also manufactures motorcycles under its own name. However, the frame was designed by Glynn Kerr, and is made in the United States, with all parts put together at a factory in Maryland. The design is influenced by international motorcycle manufacturers, and Fischer said in an interview that Japanese and Italian manufacturers were a primary influence behind the MRX’s design. ""I didn’t have some acid-inspired vision, this is just good solid engineering with beautiful design.""

The MRX 650 was introduced in 2008, coming in red, yellow, and black. This sport bike had to be ordered online in the early years until Fischer Motor Company established a dealer network. This meant purchasers could upgrade the motorcycle with factory-installed parts, such as Brembo brakes, and accessories when they ordered it. The MRX is considered one of the best-handling sport bikes in the world. It is designed to be low maintenance. According to Fischer, it is the world’s first motorcycle to have a one-piece Grand Prix chassis.
