2007 Triumph Bonneville T100

Intro

With the return of the Triumph Bonneville in 2001, the motorcycle from British manufacturer Triumph Engineering was kicking off its third production cycle. (Triumph had produced the bike from 1959 to 1983, then 1985 to 1988.) However, the 2007 edition of the Bonneville would bring it to an end – or at least the end of its manufacture at Hinckley, Leicestershire.

There was another crucial change. While, the post-2001 ""Bonnie"" bikes had an engine displacement of 790 cubic centimeters (cc), Triumph increased the engine displacement of the 2007 edition to 865 cc. It is a classification that the Bonnie would carry on into the next decade.

Three models are available for the 2007 model year of the Triumph Bonneville: the base edition; the Black edition, which has distinctive black paint and engine covers; and the top-tier T100. The T100 in particular is set apart with an envious number of added features: chrome-plated engine covers, fork gaiters, multi-spoke wire wheels, two-tone-colored gas tank, and twin exhausts with the shape of peashooters. There is also the Triumph logo emblazoned on each T100 seat.

The four-stroke air-cooled parallel-twin cylinder engine on each 2007 Triumph Bonneville generates 62 horsepower at 7,400 revolutions per minute (RPM) and 44 pound-feet of torque at 3,500 RPM. Four valves go on each cylinder, and the bore and stroke is 3.55 by 2.68 inches. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and peak fuel capacity is set at 4.4 gallons.

For superior braking and handling, the 2007 Triumph Bonneville has disc brakes on its aluminum wheels, which consist of a 19-inch one in the front and a smaller 17-inch one at the back. The all-wheel disc brakes provide better braking than bikes with a front disc brake and rear drum brake. Set at a height of around 31 inches, the 2007 Bonnie's one-piece vinyl seat is big enough to accommodate the driver and one passenger. The digital instrumentation at the front of the bike consists of a tachometer, speedometer, and trip odometer. Also included are halogen headlights for lighting and rearview mirrors for visibility.

The 2007 Triumph Bonneville measures around 88 inches in length, 33 inches in width and 43 inches in height, with a wheelbase of around 59 inches. Each bike weighs 451 lbs. The manufacturer’s suggested retail prices for the 2007 Bonneville are $6,999 for the Black, $7,499 for the Base model and $8,299 for the T100.

First appearing in the 1960s, the Bonneville has always been about great assertive styling and awesome driving power. The 2007 edition of the Bonneville retains the retro design, while utilizing 21st-century technology. Plus, with a few tweaks here and there, it is a cut or two above previous iterations of the bike’s third production cycle.
