2006 Tomberlin XS 110

Intro

Tomberlin has carved a niche in the realm of fuel efficient and electric vehicles, contracting joint efforts between some of the world""s foremost specialty manufacturers. Building upon a strong reputation in the realm of electric vehicles and popular gas scooters, Tomberlin introduced the XS line in 2006 with two models: the XS90, and XS110. As suspected, the numbers associated with the model are representative of the engine displacement, measured in cubic centimeters. The Tomberlin XS models are classified as Enduro motorcycles, and are best enjoyed off-road, or on tracks and trails, and are frequently used as pit bikes. They""re versatile vehicles, and considering the price tag, they are also quite affordable.

The Tomberlin research and development team was clearly inspired by the minds at KTM. The styling cues of the 2006 XS models are similar to its premier motocross competitor. For motocross enthusiasts who enjoy the KTM design (the smaller wheels and impressive travel), the Tomberlin XS90 serves as a more affordable option. This is especially true for beginner riders who may or may not take to the power of two wheels. The Tomberlin XS90 serves as a great run-around bike for farm chores, or caring for various aspects of a large lay of land. With a seat height of 24 inches, larger riders can easily place their feet down for active and frequent use of their hands, which also makes this affordable bike an asset within a racing infield or pit area. In fact, the XS models are billed as pit bikes on the official Tomberlin website.

In terms of performance, the 2006 Tomberlin XS90 can get up and go. Unlike many bikes in the beginner class, the Tomberlin possesses a three-speed manual transmission, allowing riders more control of the single cylinder four-stroke. This is a noteworthy benefit of the Tomberlin XS. The XS110 uses a four-speed manual in order to get the most out of the 107cc single cylinder.

While the 90cc and 110cc horizontal cylinders in the Tomberlin XS make for a relatively smooth ride, this isn""t a bike that is geared for heavy track riding or racing. As an Enduro, it will capably handle dirt roads, trails, and similar riding surfaces. This bike isn""t designed to catch big air like some of the competitor models, though it remains enjoyable off of smaller jumps, over bumps, and through ruts.

The 2006 Tomberlin XS boasts classic motocross/Enduro styling. The handlebar offers enough of an upright riding position that beginners will feel comfortable. The front fender and all body parts are durable and pliable plastic. This removes the concern of the inevitable dings and dumps that these bikes are destined to endure. Ultimately, the Tomberlin XS models serve as a perfect first bike for a young enthusiast, or a great utility bike for work, or for joyriding.
