2006 KTM SMR 560

Intro

KTM Sportmotorcycle AG, the renowned Austrian ""race-winning, class-dominating off-road motorcycle"" manufacturer, fully supports less expensive and easy maintenance cross-country and off-road motorcycles. Its line of ultra-light SMR (Supermoto Racing) models is one of its track series introduced in 2006. Off-road, trail, or dirt bikes are lightweight with rugged tires, intended for motocross, cross-country, and all-terrain competition.

The 2006 KTM SMR track models’ closest competition is the Aprilia SKV 4.5 as well as its own KTM SMC, and other XC track models.

On average, the 2006 KTM SMR models rank in the top two-thirds among the competition in machine and performance. The 2006 KTM SMR 450 model has an overall user ranking of two out of eight comparable track motorcycle models ranked in 2006. Individual user ratings for performance, quality and reliability, ride and comfort, and value are not available. The 2006 KTM SMR 560 model ranks four out of eight comparable track motorcycle models ranked in 2006. Individual ratings for performance, quality and reliability, ride and comfort, and value have not been user-rated.

The 2006 SMR models are chromium molybdenum frame, removable aluminum sub-frame, and plastic body construction. Both SMR 450 and SMR 560 come standard with 4-stroke, overhead cam, single-cylinder, liquid cooled, engines and six-speed manual transmissions. Engine displacement to weight ranges from 1.88 cc (SMR 450) to 2.34 for the SMR 560.

The standard dry weight of the 2006 SMR 450 model is 239.2 pounds (108.5 kg). The 2006 SMR 560 model’s standard dry weight is 241.4 pounds (109.5 kg). Both 2006 SMR models’ ground clearance is 12.2 inches (309.9 mm).

SMR models are equipped with 17-inch diameter, 3.5-inch wide front wheels and larger 17-inch diameter, 5- to 5.5-inch wide rear wheels. The larger rear wheel accommodates the bigger, more rugged race compound tires available today.

Because of the nature of the SMR 450 and SMR 560 bikes, you will not find adjustable throttle, levers, or handlebars, cruise control, cup holder, CD or cassette player, CB radio, keyless ignition, power outlet, intercom, and padded handlebars, radio and speakers, and service reminders.

Exterior covers and guards, including exhaust guard, front and rear fenders, driver foot pegs, hand grips, fork guards, hand guards, lower fairing and upper fairing, and kick stand are standard
