2006 Hyosung GV 250

Intro

The 2006 Hyosung GV was a cruiser motorcycle that South Korean manufacturer Hyosung Corp. released for the 2006 model year. There are two models of the bike: the GV 250 and GV 650. Hyosung priced them at $3,994 and $6,994, respectively.

Like most motorcycles with numerical suffixes, the models of the 2006 Hyosung GV are named after their engine displacement. The GV 250 engine displaces at 249 cubic centimeters (cc), while the GV 650 engine displaces at 647 cubic centimeters (cc). With each engine being a four-stroke V-twin (two-cylinder), Hyosung enabled the one on the GV 250 to be air or oil-cooled and the one on the GV 650 to be liquid-cooled; the feature is meant to reduce overheating. The GV 250 engine generates 26.8 horsepower at 9,200 revolutions per minute (RPM) and 15.7 pound-feet (lb-ft) of torque at 7,300 RPM. The one on the GV 650 is more powerful: 72.1 horsepower at 9,000 RPM and 45.4 lb-ft of torque at 7,500 RPM.

Four intake valves go on each engine cylinder of the 2006 Hyosung GV. Two Mikuni carburetors – 26-millimeter ones on the GV 250 and 39-millimeter ones on the GV 650 – blend air and fuel for each engine. For convenience, Hyosung provides an electric ignition on each bike. The engine of the 2006 Hyosung GV is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

The GV 650 model of the 2006 Hyosung GV is larger and heavier than the GV 250 version. Each GV 250 measures 89.4 inches (about 2,271 millimeters) in length, 31.5 inches (800 millimeters) in width and 42.9 inches (1,090 millimeters) in height, with a dry weight of 341.7 lbs. (155 kilograms). The GV 650 has a 95.8-inch (2,432 millimeters) length, 33.1-inch (840-millimeter) width and 45.5-inch (1,155-millimeter) height, with a dry weight of 440.9 lbs. (200 kilograms). Moreover, the GV 650 has a greater wheelbase and ground clearance: at 65.6 inches (1,665 millimeters) and 6.3 inches (160 millimeters), respectively; by comparison, the GV 250 has a 59.1-inch (1,500-millimeter) wheelbase and 6.1-inch (155-millimeter) ground clearance.

The 2006 Hyosung GV 250 comes in either of two two-tone color schemes: red-and-black and silver-and-black. The GV 650 version offers three colors: black, blue and silver. Each bike has a two-piece vinyl seat that accommodates up to two occupants. Also standard on each 2006 Hyosung GV are under-seat and lockable storage; rearview mirrors; halogen headlight; and digital instrumentation that includes a tachometer, trip odometer, speedometer, and temperature warning and fuel level warning indicators.

The GV 650 model of the 2006 Hyosung GV has several additions, though. It has engine case guard and fork guards, its foot peg is adjustable, the model’s temperature warning type is a gauge instead of a light and a visor adorns its headlight. At its digital dashboard, Hyosung adds a clock. GV 650s rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear aluminum wheels, instead on the 17-inch front and 16-inch rear ones on the GV 250.
