The 2006 Husqvarna TC was one of the higher-end Motocross-inspired motorcycles Husqvarna--a bike manufacturer headquartered in Italy--put out for the 2006 model year. Although sharing many similarities with its sibling the CR, the 2006 TC is a more advanced and varied version of the off-road bike.
The 2006 edition of the Husqvarna TC got its inspiration from Motocross racing, which means that it is optimized for those who fancy themselves racing on enclosed off-road tracks or driving on unpaved terrain. However, the TC is still fine for regular, paved roads.
Three models are available from the 2006 Husqvarna TC: the TC 250, the TC 450, and the TC 510. The three numbers roughly correspond with the displacement of their four-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engines: 249.5 cubic centimeters (cc) on the TC 250, 449 cc on the TC 450, and 501 cc on the TC 510.
Each engine on the 2006 Husqvarna TC is mated to a five-speed manual, has a compression ratio of 12.9 to 1, and possesses four intake valves. However, the bore and stroke is 2.99 by 2.17 inches (76 by 55 millimeters) on the TC 250 and 3.81 by 2.39 inches (97 by 60.8 millimeters) on the TC 450 and TC 510. Each bike has a kick starter for igniting the engine.
Each 2006 Husqvarna TC is made of a mixture of aluminum and steel, typical of bikes from this Italian manufacturer striving for sturdiness yet low weight. A kick stand is provided for parking and support, while a skid plate goes underneath the bike for protection. Other bike coverings include fenders and a side cover.
The three models of the 2006 Husqvarna TC share the same peak fuel capacity of 2.4 gallons (9.2 liters) and width of 32.3 inches (820 millimeters). The length and height of the bike, though, are 86.7 inches and 50 inches on the TC 250; and 85.4 inches and 50.4 inches on the TC 450 and TC 510. Similarly, the wheelbase and ground clearance are measured at 58.5 inches and 13.2 inches on the TC 250; and 58 inches and 13.4 inches on the other models. Dry weight is measured at 210.2 pounds (95.3 kilograms) for the TC 250, 222.2 pounds (100.8 kilograms) for the TC 450, and 225.2 pounds (102.1 kilograms) for the TC 510.
For the 2006 model year, Husqvarna replaced the comparatively lean Sachs twin-sided swing arm for the rear suspension with an Ohlins® one, thus improving bump absorption. The braking is left untouched: a superb set-up of Brembo® hydraulic discs on the Pirelli® tire-fitted front 21-inch and rear 19-inch aluminum wheels.
