Before Taiwanese motorcycle manufacturer Kwang Yang Motor Co, Ltd. split it into several models based on engine displacement size, the Kymco Bet & Win scooter was sold as just one version: the Bet & Win 250. The 2005 model year received such an iteration, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $3,999.
Powering each 2005 Kymco Bet & Win scooter is a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which has two intake valves and is fueled by a carburetor. The engine displaces at 249.1 cubic centimeters, which classifies the Bet & Win as a 250cc scooter and explains the three-digit suffix. It produces 9.4 pound-feet of torque at 5,500 revolutions per minute (RPM), and it has a bore and stroke of 72.7 x 60 millimeters (2.86 x 2.36 inches) and compression ratio of 10.3 to 1. The engine is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission, which shifts through an unlimited amount of gear ratios to produce a better fuel economy. The fuel tank on each 2005 Bet & Win can hold up to 2.8 gallons (10.5 liters).
All-wheel disc brakes provide the 2005 Kymco Bet & Win with superior stopping power, certainly over an all-wheel drum brake or front-disc-brake rear-drum-brake set-up. A telescopic fork and twin-sided swing arm with two shock absorbers constitute the scooter’s suspension, put together to ensure a rather smooth ride. Each 2005 Bet & Win has a pair of 12-inch aluminum wheels, which are wrapped in tubed tires.
Strengthened with a steel frame, the 2005 Kymco Bet & Win is dressed up with front and rear fenders, side covers and fork guards, with a kick stand for parking it. The scooter comes in either a Charcoal / Silver or Red / Silver color scheme. A one-piece vinyl seat is enough to seat two occupants, and the digital instrumentation on front consists of a speedometer and fuel level warning light. A rear rack and under-seat and lockable compartments comprise the Bet & Win’s storage space, and a halogen headlight and pair of side mirrors are provided for improving the driver’s visual perception on the road.
The 2005 Kymco Bet & Win has a length of 79 inches (2,005.6 mm), width of 30 inches (762 mm), height of 45 inches (1,143 mm) and wheelbase of 57 inches (1,447.8 mm). Its seat is set at a height of 32 inches (812.8 mm), and the scooter weighs 348 lbs. (157.9 kilograms).
The 2005 Kymco Bet & Win is a good, if not remarkable, scooter. Customers would be drawn to this one for its considerable amount of power, braking prowess and storage options.
