2005 Honda VTX 1800S Spec 1

In 2005, famed Japanese manufacturer Honda released three different variations of its VTX 1800S cruising bike to meet the diverse needs of its consumer base. But while the Spec 1, Spec 2, and Spec 3 each offer slightly different features, all three provide a safe and comfortable riding experience once the wheels hit the road.

At first glance, the Honda VTX 1800S's most noticeable feature is its size. This bike was constructed with experienced riders in mind, as it is solidly built and weighs in at a 750 pounds dry, with a wheelbase of 67.5 inches. Furthermore, a 27.3-inch seat height gives the driver a clear view of the open road, while detachable passenger seating allows a companion to hop on the motorcycle and come along for a ride. The 2005 Honda VTX 1800S comes in three colors, including Candy Black Cherry, Black, and Metallic Green, giving each owner a number of different styling options.

While the 2005 Honda VTX's large frame gives it a powerful presence, the bike's suspension and steering allow for an easy ride on the road. The Honda VTX 1800S comes equipped with an inverted fork front suspension and 5.1 inches of front travel, combined with a twin-sided swing arm rear suspension and 3.9 inches of rear travel to create a smooth ride, regardless of road conditions. A pair of rear shock absorbers helps the Honda VTX 1800S handle tough terrain.

Beyond the bike's suspension and steering, the 2005 Honda 1800S's tires, wheels, and brakes only enhance the riding experience. This motorcycle has a 150/80 R17 front tire and 180/70 R16 rear tire, which combine with a pair of aluminum, tubeless wheels to provide a smooth drive for riders of all experience levels. A linked braking system connects the bike's 11.7-inch dual disc front brakes with its 12.5-inch disc rear brakes, allowing riders to make smooth stops, even when cruising at top speeds.

No discussion of the 2005 Honda VTX 1800S would be complete without a conversation about its powerful four-stroke engine. The bike comes equipped with a 17955cc, V-Twin, SOHC engine, with 3.98 x 4.41 inches of bore and stroke, and a 9:1 compression ratio, all of which helps create the VTX 1800's 106 bhp horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque. This motorcycle also has an electric starter, while a five-speed manual transmission allows riders to cruise in and out of traffic at speeds most comfortable to them.

Finally, beyond its standard specifications, the 2005 Honda VTX 1800S also comes with a number of additional bodywork and instrumentation features. The bike is equipped with exterior covers and guards to help protect its steel frame from outside elements, while front and rear fenders provide an extra safety measure for both the driver and passenger. The bike also comes equipped with an odometer, speedometer, and temperature warning light, as well as a fuel level warning light to let the driver know when the 5.3-gallon fuel tank is running low. Driver side floorboards, passenger foot peg location, and vinyl seating provide extra comfort for riders of the bike.
