2005 Honda VTX 1800R Spec 1

With three different models released during the 2005 calendar year, the Honda VTX 1800R cruising bike offers a little something for riders of all ages and ability levels. But while the Spec 1, Spec 2, and Spec 3 models each provide slightly different features, all three guarantee both comfort and class when the bike hits the road.

At a glance, the first thing that stands out about the 2005 Honda VTX 1800R is its size. The bike is one of the biggest Honda models on the market, weighing in at a hefty 750 pounds and featuring a 67.5-inch wheelbase. The bike also has a 27.5-inch seat height, allowing the driver an optimal view of the road, while detachable passenger seating means that a companion can hop on this motorcycle and go along for the ride. The 2005 Honda VTX 1800R comes in three different colors: Candy Red, Black, and Titanium.

While its sleek cruising body gives the 2005 Honda VTX 1800R a bit of style, the bike's four-stroke engine gives it plenty of power out on the open road. The Honda VTX 1800R is equipped with a 1795cc, V-Twin, SOHC engine with 3.98 x 4.41 inches of bore and stroke and a 9:1 compression ratio, which helps create the bike's 106 bhp horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque. The VTX 1800R also has an electric starter, while a five-speed manual transmission lets drivers maneuver into and out of traffic at a speed that is most conducive to their riding abilities.

Still, while the 2005 Honda VTX 1800R derives plenty of power from its engine, the bike's suspension and steering allow for a comfortable ride when the rubber hits the road. The bike's inverted fork front suspension and 5.1 inches of front travel combine with its twin steel swing arm rear suspension and 3.9 inches of rear travel to give the Honda VTX 1800R a smooth ride, regardless of road conditions. This motorcycle also comes with a pair of rear shocker absorbers to help the bike more easily handle rough terrain.

In addition, the 2005 Honda VTX 1800R's wheels, tires, and brakes only enhance the riding experience. The Honda VTX 1800R is equipped with a 150/80 R17 front tire and a 180/70 R16 rear tire, which combine with a pair of tubeless, aluminum tires to create a balanced ride. A linked brake system connects the bike's 11.7-inch dual disc front brakes with its 12.5-inch rear brakes, allowing riders to make safe, smooth stops, even when cruising at top speeds.

Beyond the standard specifications, the Honda VTX 1800R also comes with a number of other additional features. Exterior covers and guards protect the bike's steel frame, while front and rear fenders provide an additional measure of safety for both the driver and passenger. The VTX 1800R also comes with a number of standard instrumentation features, including a temperature warning light, standard speedometer, odometer, and fuel warning light, which alerts the driver when the bike's 5.3-gallon fuel capacity tank is getting low. Standard handgrips, driver side floorboards, and vinyl seating add comfort to the class of the 2005 Honda VTX 1800R.
