2005 Honda Nighthawk 250

The 2005 Honda Nighthawk was one of the standard motorcycles that Japanese automaker Honda released for the 2005 model year. There was only one model: the Nighthawk 250, with the number being a rounded-up estimation of the bike’s engine displacement. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the 2005 Nighthawk was $3,599.

Powering each 2005 Honda Nighthawk is a four-stroke, air-cooled, parallel twin engine, with two intake valves on each of its two cylinders. The engine displaces at 234 cubic centimeters, and it has a bore and stroke of 53 x 53 millimeters (2.09 x 2.09 inches) and compression ratio of 9.2 to 1. Harnessed to the engine is a five-speed manual transmission, with a chain drive. A 26-mm carburetor fuels the engine, and each bike gets an electric starter for convenient ignition. The fuel tank on each 2005 Nighthawk has a peak capacity of 4.3 gallons (16.3 liters) with a 0.8-gallon (3-liter) reserve.

Each 2005 Honda Nighthawk uses drum brakes on both front and rear wheels: a downgrade from the more effective front-disc-brake rear-drum-brake system or the all-wheel disc brake set-up. The suspension on the bike consists of a 1.2-inch (31-mm) telescopic fork and twin-sided swing arm with two shock absorbers. Each 2005 Honda Nighthawk rides on front 18-inch and rear 18-inch steel wheels wrapped in tubed tires.

Backed with a solid steel frame, the 2005 Honda Nighthawk has the usual front and rear fenders, vinyl seat (which accommodates the driver and a passenger) and a stand (kick variant) for parking it, as well as side covers. All 2005 Nighthawks have a uniform black color scheme.

The instrumentation at the front of the 2005 Honda Nighthawk consists of a trip odometer and speedometer. A compartment under the seat serves as the bike’s storage space. A halogen headlight and a pair of side mirrors help increase the driver’s visual perception: whether it’s a vehicle or object that can’t be seen within normal visual range or providing significant lighting on the road during night time.

The 2005 Honda Nighthawk has a wheelbase of 56.3 lbs. (1,430 mm), and the seat on the bike is set at a height of 29.3 inches (744.2 mm). The dry weight for the bike is estimated at 287 lbs. (130.2 kilograms).

For the casual rider or someone more concerned with practicality, the 2005 Honda Nighthawk is an acceptable pick. Otherwise, those with emphasis on more advanced features or greater performance are better off looking somewhere else for a standard motorcycle.
